sunday nom noms...

so tonight i made TVP tacos. i soaked some TVP with a little water and tomato sauce, along with chili powder, garlic power, and some onion as seasoning. then i fried it up. it was okay. the real delish part though was my spanish (mexican) rice. it's my mom's recipe: fry onion in some oil for about a minute, throw in the rice and fry that up for a minute, then add water, tomato sauce, salt, and garlic. YUM. simple but delicious. then we just heated up some canned refried beans (that's what mom used to do), cut up avocado and pickled jalepeƱos and had ourselves some tacos. Mmm Mmm good!

for dessert i made a smoothie with frozen strawberries, peaches, some soy milk and OJ. it was pretty good, great texture for sure.

tomorrow, assuming i get enough writing done (master's thesis), i want to bake some vegan cranberry muffins--good breakfast food and uber filling, or so i hope.

d's meltdown and vegan stroganoff



so i had yet another meltdown tonight. like i said before, i don't handle stress so well (new york probably wasn't the greatest picks of locals for me). so i had a meltdown today, and a cute ceramic pumpkin suffered for it.

on a brighter note, i made some yummy vegan mushroom stroganoff =) i got the recipe from here, a really awesome vegan site. I served it with collard greens and some fried tofu. it was super yummy.

remind me to never, ever, ever, ever do the romantic thing again. i am so stupid when it comes to boys.

my hope for the future

okay folks, i am not a disciplined person. if i don't have to work, i will sleep in til noon every day, i won't eat until around 3pm, and i go to bed a 3am. i do not have a healthy lifestyle. SO! i want to force myself into some kind of routine, despite the flexibility part time work allows. here are my ideas:

1. Wake up by 7:30am every day, EVEN weekends
2. Walk Triskit and Ollie (dogs) right away
3. Exercise. I have a gym membership for a reason, damnit
4. Breakfast at home
5. Walk #2 for Triskit and Ollie (this way i can give them a short walk by the time it's dark)
6. Misc. interwebbing and necessary contact crap
7. Make lunch before work
8. Work, wherever that may be
9. Home, cook dinner, read/socialize
10. Bed by 11pm

Sounds good, right? We'll see if I can make this happen. I really need to get my butt in gear here.

Welcome to my site

Okay, so I have...3 blogs. One is old and dumb and I don't like it anymore. One was specifically for traveling, and one is about how I up and moved to brooklyn for no good reason. This one is not going to be about anything but the shit I like, and also as a way to get in touch with other vegans for recipes and what not. so here it is, my first entry. hi.
